In this essay, I intend to express my passion for the most important American fighting men of all time. However, before I do, I want to make something perfectly clear. I am grateful for and appreciate very much all American fighting men of the past and future. · The patriots of 1776 gave me my freedom that I so very much cherish. · The guys in 1812 showed the world for the first time that we were a legitimate countryhere to stay. · My ancestors fighting and dying brother against brother at Gettysburg kept this country together, and ensured its wonderful future. · The great state of Texas was added, and Manifest Destiny was brought from merely a lot of political talk, to a country that stretched from shore to magnificent shore by the soldiers who came before me. · The men who fought the Spanish in Cuba and the Philippines at the end of the 19th Century made us a world power, and prepared us for worse things to come. · The Doughboys who fought in World War I changed the world. They were violently thrown from the Dark Ages and into modern times. · The brave Marines at Tarawa made the Japanese pay for their attack on Pearl Harbor, and our way of life. · As Communism spread around the globe, I am so thankful for the defenders of democracy who fought it, both in that long, Cold War, and in the hot wars of Korea and Vietnam. · The forces that liberated Grenada and Panama, as well as those who overwhelmed the Republican Guard across the Iraqi Dessert were just as significant as their predecessors. Its just that the US military has became so proficient with all the practice, that we can now conquer our enemies so expeditiously and resolutely, the general public erroneously presumes the fight was effortless and painless, and therefore does not treat the troops as the heroes they genuinely are. I love the American fighting man, and with that saidIm going to tell you about my favorite of them all. The World War II European Theater Vet. Yes, the Revolutionary War was about as significant as could be, if we were still British Subjects American history would read much like Canadas. American has changed the world for the better, many times over, and its because of those compatriots of mine who dumped the Kings tea in the Harbor. All the subsequent wars had their significance as well, however in all of the history of mankind, there has never been a threat such as that of Nazi Germany. These valiant American men stormed Fortress Europe, eradicated Hitler, and hacked and slashed his aspiration of A Thousand-Year Reich down to little more than a decade. These supermen did nothing less than save the entire world! Yes, unadulterated Communism in theory is even more dangerous than Nazism, but in my opinion Communism was never legitimate, and if left alone, it would have imploded. Please do not misconstrue my view, I believe combating the Soviets every step of the way was essential, and I am deeply thankful for those men and women who fought that necessary war. What may have lasted several centuries if left to die a natural death was shortened to just over 70 years. Nonetheless, I do not believe Communism possessed the global threat Nazism did. Communism goes against the human spirit, against natural selection, and against everything proper in the physical world. Yes Nazism has all the pure wickedness of Communism, but is considerably superior as it allows for the individual to prosper, develop, and benefit from his or her own efforts and ventures. I honestly believe if it were not for the great Americans who faced those Mauser bullets, the world would now be ruled by the SS produced Hitler Youth ruling the world in the traditions of their mentor...Adolph Hitler. With a few modest quirks in history, Nazism could have flourished and contaminated the entire globe in a way I dont believe Communism could have. This is why World War II European Theater Vets are my very favorite. I thank them with everything I have, and it bothers me greatly how we have forgotten them. | ||||
